Writing about afro-beat in the month of August should be the worlds 8th world wonder, I mean have you seen the chat!!! Afrobeat is the Wave!!! It has been it will always been!! Afro-beat in 2020 is waaaaay bigger than Nigeria or even Africa!!!! LIKE WHATEVER WE ARE DOING RIGHT, WE SHOULD LEGIT CONTINUE!!! BECAUSE IT IS WORKING!!!
IN AUGUST 2020, Covid is gradually loosing its glory and hold on the world, in Wuhan, my people are already planning Pool themed parties, and Trust Russia to Priding in Developing ‘THE VACCINE’, But in Africa where black I not just King, but also, AFRO-BEAT IS KING MOTHER!!
Thanks to Covid, there’s been so many albums this period, I mean the creative industry has somewhat doubled up in content and I even hear that content doubled in worth as against crude, still speaking about ICONIC ALBUMS!!! Grammy nominated of African nationality, Burna Boy dropped the album ‘TWICE AS TALL’ with features with Sam Smith, Chris Martin, and Ladies and Gentlemen one of the producers of this Album is Timberland!!!!Haaa, crazy of it, it was all birthed during the lockdown!!!
And just when we taught we had seen all of greatness. Fireboy came through APOLLO!! ( Well, i thanks To Olamide), And BOOM!!! Adekunle Gold or should I Say ‘AG’ Baby, has Shown us via an Album how powerful A Rebirth can be, that Hairdo, beards and new body!!! Agbeg abeg!! DON’T STOP
Watching Adekunle Gold evolve as an Artist, is such a beautiful thing, he went from the lover boy looking for Orente to the Bad Boy singing is EX away and guess what? Everything is still okay, ( see what i did there?) if you haven’t listened to any of the off his album “Afropop Volume 1”,you might not understand the Pun there but the Honey really!!!! He featured Acts like, Patoranking, Tekno, Nailah Blackman,and Olayinka Ehi, after this Album, i just think we should expect the unimaginable from AG baby, because the CATAPILLAR WAS ALWAYS THE BUTTERFLY!!!!
Waking up on the 27th of August 2020, which was yesterday, Patoranking blessed us with a really iconic album, which he titled “Three” of all the names in world!!, For me, Pato ( can i sound like know him on a deeper energy) He’s like the Nigerian Sean Paul, toripe Energy pooh, i love his delivery and how his songs are not necessarily trendy, but always has a message, from end domestic violence to advocating for World Peace. I am currently Jamming to Abule which he dropped last month, talk about ‘GHETTO LIVING’.
Whenever i am asked about what i think about, ‘ORIGINAL COPY’, i just have one word ‘FINALLY’ We deserve this album, we prayed, cried and begged for this Album, YES YES YES, with features like that with REMA,FIREBOY, SEYI SHAY,MS BANKS, RAYVANNY, YCEE, TENI MAKANAKI, STONEBWOY, ZLATAN ETC. CUPPY has barely scratch the surfaced. Talk of an Actual African Album, so many African ACTS!
AND THEN TIWA SAVAGE DROPPED CELIA BY THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT, GREAT ALBUM LISTENING PARTY IF YOU ASK ME. I honestly haven’t explored any song on the ALBUM asides, KOROBA which i think is everybody’s fave, it’s unarguably one of the most anticipated, if not the most Waited on Album of 2020. I MEAN SHE IS AFRICAN BAD.
WHOSE ALBUM DO YOU THINK I MIGHT HAVE LEFT OUT? AND WHOSE ALBUM ARE YOU CURRENTLY ENTERTAINED AND OBSESSED WITH AT THE MOMENT, WELL FOR ME, ITS MORE THAN A TIE AS I DONT EVEN KNOW WHICH IS MY FAVE ALBUM, OKAY NOW LETS AGREE AUGUST HAS NOT JUST BEEN FILLED WITH ENTANGLEMENTS IN LAGOS BUT HAS BEEN MEMORABLE FOR THESE GREAT ALBUMS.
